Hi, I’m Alex.
I’m a creative (writer) based on the Sunshine Coast.
I’m not very good at drawing but I love working with wire. I find it so forgiving.
One day, mucking around, I made three wire women silhouettes. I then mounted them on white card, so they throw a shadow, and framed them inside an old desk drawer mounted on the wall as a shelf.
I shared a photo of them on Instagram and a beautiful friend and owner of a gorgeous Pomona homewares store Velzy Lane, offered to sell them in her shop.
I made six wire women and two sold on the first day.
So, Wirelust was born.
Art is so rewarding, knowing it is yours and it only needs to please you.
But knowing it pleases others is even more rewarding.
I have now built this online shop to share my wire art with others all over Australia.
I am also working on my first commission – which is so exciting.
All of my pieces are handmade and made to order so each artwork is different.
